What you need to enter Japan

An application is limited to a foreign national who agrees with the terms below. If you do not agree, you cannot apply for the certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS system.

Required documents and items when you enter Japan

• Inspection certificate within 72 hours before departure

• Preparation of the app designated by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare:
  If you cannot install the app on your smartphone, you have to rent a smartphone at the arrival airport.
• Questionnaire from the Web (prepare on a plane or before departure)
• Written Pledge (prepare on a plane or before departure)
• VISA to Japan:
  For each of all non-Japanese participants in the ISM-8, a VISA is required to enter Japan at present.
  An application for a visa is made by the applicant him/herself at the Japanese overseas establishments with jurisdiction over the area in which the applicant resides or those with jurisdiction over the country/region of which the applicant’s passport is issued. Before you apply for a VISA, please ask the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General near your place about the necessary documents and procedures for your VISA application. Then, please apply for your VISA to Japan.

Other Important Information

Please make sure to read and understand the followings:

• Please arrange your own travel (accommodation, airline tickets, etc.). The cost of your travel is not included in your registration fee and must be paid by yourself.
• In Japan, you have to wear a mask especially when you are walking on a public street, using a public transportation and talking with others.
• Wash your hands frequently or use a hand sanitizer.
• If you have symptoms such as fever/ cough / runny nose, please stay at the hotel and go to the hospital.
• If you use a restaurant, please eat silently with a small number of people and wear a mask when having a conversation.
• PCR testing may be required before boarding the aircraft when you return to your country. You can use the PCR center at the airport. (If you take a test, we recommend reserving your test in advance.)

Registration procedure of application for a “certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS”

• Click “Go to Registration page” button on this page.
• Enter your registered ID (email address) and Password to log in to the system.
• Click “Entry to Japan” button on the menu page.
  Please note the “Entry to Japan” button will be shown after the completion of the congress registration payment.
• Follow the directions on the screen and fill in the required fields.
  - Name (Surname/Given name) *already registered at an account page on the system
  - Nationality *as shown in your passport (3 letters of the alphabet)
  - Date of Birth (YYYYMMDD) *already registered at an account page on the system
  - Gender
  - Passport Number *as shown in your passport
  - Expected Date of Entry to Japan
  - Email address *already registered as your ID on the system
  - Name of Hotel or Other Accommodation during your stay in Japan
  - Address of Hotel or Other Accommodation during your stay in Japan
• When the registration is completed, the auto-reply email will be sent to your registered email address.

Procedure of obtaining a “certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS”

• You have completed registering required information for the application for the certificate as indicated in the above.
• The ISM-8 Organizing Committee will apply for a “certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS” with above information.
• When a “certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS” has been issued, the Organizing Committee will send you it by email.
• With the certificate, please apply for your VISA to Japan by yourself.
